It was wrong for us to be together, but it was even harder to be apart.
The memory of Dallas Sykes burns inside of me.   Everyone knows him as a notorious playboy, a man for whom women and money are no object. But to me, he’s still the one man I desperately crave—yet the one I can never have.   Dallas knows me better than anyone else. We bear the same scars, the same darkness in our past. I thought I could move on by staying away, but now that we’re drawn together once more, I can’t fight the force of our attraction or the temptation to make him mine.   We’ve tried to maintain control, not letting ourselves give in to desire. And for so long we’ve told ourselves no—but now it’s finally time to say yes.  Dirtiest Secret is intended for mature audiences.

I first have to say I have not read any of the Stark International series so going in I was wondering if I would be lost.  The great news is that this is a spin-off series so you see the story from outside the original characters.

Dallas Sykes has a reputation – as a man who is running an empire and dominate in the bedroom, but there is so much more to Dallas than anyone sees.  A dark time has haunted him for 17 years and he is doing everything he can to show the world that he is in control but when in all actually he is not.  The one person who understands that time for him better than anyone else is the person he has loved since he was 15 years old and the one person he cant have his adoptive sister Jane.

Jane Martin was adopted into the Sykes family when her mother and Dallas’s uncle married all those years before and both were adopted.  She shares what has been haunting Dallas all these years but she doesn’t have the same demons as he does but does have the scars.  She has been in love with Dallas for 15 years and in order to not act upon those feelings she stays away – but something from their past has come forward and now they need each other to help solve their mystery.

This is a dark book with dark themes on top of the taboo of loving your sister/brother.  Overall I don’t have any issues with the dark themes of the book and what Dallas and Jane have to do to move forward.  I am not a fan of the step brother/sister romance theme though and here it is definitely prevalent.   What I liked is the mystery that surrounds them and how will these two damaged people find normalcy; that is the part of the story that I really enjoy.  This does have a cliffhanger and it is 1 out of a trilogy so you will need to wait but if you enjoy mystery and a story about healing then I definitely recommend the Dirtiest Secret. I am definitely can’t wait to read the next book in the trilogy.
