Savanna Fox writes a compelling story about a couple struggling to save their marriage.
Eight months ago, Lily Nyland joined a book club with three other women. One of the books the women decide to read is a novel about BDSM. Lily reluctantly agrees but the subject makes her uncomfortable; she thinks BDSM is abusive and demeaning. Lily is a controlled, hard working doctor and spends all her time running a busy family practice clinic in Vancouver. Lily joins the book club thinking they will have highbrow literary discussions, but the women have different tastes and the books aren’t choices Lily would make, but she reads them anyway. Lily enjoys being with the women, because it’s been a long time since she has spent time with girlfriends, or had a chance to relax.
Lily and her husband Dax have been married ten years, but are rarely together because of their demanding jobs. They have slowly drifted apart, but are hesitant to discuss the state of their marriage. Dax is a bush pilot and rarely home because he is gone for months at a time with his job. Dax is a bad boy with a free spirit who relishes spending time in the wilderness. Dax and Lily have forgotten how to communicate with each other and they are afraid to express their feelings. Even though they are polar opposites, they have always been attracted to each other.
