ChanceEncounter500X800Delaney Richards had given up on love. The long hours at the office were finally paying off—she could all but feel the vice-presidency in her bones. She was counting on this week in San Francisco to seal the deal. But first she had to get through the weekend and the wedding—the first since her own wedding. Almost wedding, that is. You can’t have a wedding without a groom.

Captain Mike Savoy hadn’t counted on seeing Delaney Richards at his best friend’s wedding, let alone find himself falling in love with her. Now he has to convince her that the feeling is mutual—and permanent. But it’s more complicated than that. A past Delaney didn’t know she had is catching up with her. And the only way Mike can ensure their future together is to send her away.
And when blackmail turns to ransom, Mike is the only one who can save her. If only he can get to her in time, he can explain everything…

Reader Alert! No man had ever touched her this way, Delaney reminded herself through a moan as Mike pressed his mouth to the center of her wet triangle. His face had wrinkled in disbelief as his eyes filled with the promise of making it worth the wait…Caution! These two lovers are about to realize there’s a difference between having sex and making love. It’s like the first time all over again– ratcheted up a few notches!

To My Readers: We can all think of a book that we couldn’t wait to finish but didn’t want to end. I felt that way about Second Chance and before I finished writing it, knew I had to continue the story through another set of eyes. We’ve all felt the sting of disappointment, the tugging in our stomach that lingers long after a broken heart begins to mend. But for Delaney Richards this last one

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Chance Encounter by Martha O’Sullivan tells the story of Captain Mike Savoy and Delaney Richards.  When Delaney is a passenger on the plane Mike is flying they never anticipated their two minute conversation would lead anywhere.  As couple of chance encounters later, the biggest being a mutual friends’ wedding, they decided to give their budding attraction a chance.  They plan to enjoy the time they have while Delaney is in San Francisco, but can their fledgling relationship survive the independent nature of both people as well as a blast from Delaney’s past.

Delaney is married to her career after being left her at the altar and her recent promotion just proves how valuable she is to her current company.  She expects to attend her friend’s wedding, the first since her own wedding, and take care of business for her company during the quick trip to San Francisco.  What is completely unexpected is falling hard for Mike, and despite her success in work she shows a vulnerability when it comes to her dealings with men.  Mike is very gentle with her, helping her push through her issues while trying to protect her.  The only issue with the book is the subplot that deals with Delaney’s past.  The book skips to the point of view of someone Delaney doesn’t know, but knows her, and it was confusing until you got further into the book and it is fully explained.  Then, even when it is explained that part of the plot doesn’t seem to be needed.  Despite this it is an enjoyable read overall and fits nicely within Martha O’Sullivan’s other books in that trilogy.
