dark reaperIden Belial, the youngest Reaper, finds a great evil in Land’s End. He also finds Kallista, his mate, the woman the Goddess intends for him, and the only way he can claim her from her disapproving mother is to sate his lust and make her his.

But when they are torn apart by the Nikkeson, a demon that brings death and destruction to everything it touches, part of its wickedness is left inside him, warping the warrior and twisting him to its own evil ends. The Shadowlords of the Citadel are determined to heal him, but what Iden needs is the touch of his wife – the only one whose loving and sensual touch can truly make him whole again.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Iden Belial is the youngest and most naive of all the reapers.  Iden is confronted with a horrible evil and heartbreaking loss. Dark Reaper is book #8 of the Western Wind series. I’ve read all of the books, but this could be read as a standalone.

This installation finds Iden alone and isolated from the other reapers.  He is incapable of fighting the evil that threatens his territory and the survival of his mate.  The head of the shadow lords also finds a mate and a secret is revealed about the goddess responsible for the existence of the reapers.  There wasn’t as much action or fighting in this book, but the romances burned up the pages.  True to the author’s previous works there are very lengthy well written erotic descriptive elements throughout the book. I felt immediately vested in Isen’s character because of the other previous works, but the pacing and elements of the storyline drew me in and kept my interest.

Iden wasn’t portrayed as an Alpha male and I really wish he would have had more of that element to his personality.  Overall this wasn’t the best of the series, but it was very good.
