21848650Faking her death was easy, living with her past is harder, but nothing is more dangerous than falling in love…

Sandra Walsh was a deadly sniper for the Sweet Briar Group, a covert agency with assassins for hire, until her last mission went horribly wrong, accidentally killing an innocent girl. Knowing she’s a danger to her team, Sandra goes off the grid, becoming a Shade—an agent declared dead but secretly hiding among the living. She intends to honor her vow never to pull another trigger or have contact with the spy world again. Until she meets Casper Grady…

Grady is a former Marine with a troubled past and a debt to pay. His life mission has gone from protecting the nation to helping local children and their families. The moment he meets Sandra, he knows there’s more to her than meets the eye, but he can’t help but be drawn to the mysterious femme fatale. And when Sandra’s past suddenly catches up to her, Grady is determined to protect her at all costs, no matter how dark and dangerous her secrets are.

As the danger increases, so does their intense attraction. But when they’re forced to choose between each other and the people they’ve sworn to protect, their growing love might not be enough to keep them together—or alive…

Reviewer’s Thoughts

This is the first book in the SBG Series by P.A. DePaul and I found it an exciting story that was deeply engaging and it managed to captivate me very quickly. The Author has a true gift for storytelling that draws you right into the heart of the story. The writing is sharp, lush, vividly descriptive, well-plotted and is filled with engaging twists and turns. There is lots of action, drama and suspense and the emotions of the characters were highly intense.

Wraith/Sandra has had her share of emotional turmoil and the only way she can cope is to start over again after a terrible accident on a mission gone wrong. She goes on the run and becomes a rouge. While on the run, she manages to land a job at an adventure centre and meets Casper Grady. What is not to love about Grady, he is a very, very sexy and hard bodied Ex-Marine, who owns and runs the adventure centre. His need to help people and protect them put him right in the middle of a war when he decides to chase the elusive and haunted Sandra when she flees from the centre. That’s when the story gets really interesting between them. The sexual tension between these two is scorching hot and the scenes between them could light the pages on fire. They both have demons they are facing but Sandra’s are fresh and Grady has no idea what he is getting himself into when he makes the decision to chase her down.

I also absolutely got caught up in the secondary characters as well. I fell in love a little with all of them from the moment they were introduced. This sets up other books in this series and I can’t wait to read about each character’s story, I am truly hooked!

I would definitely recommend this book and if you love sexy hot romance with a lot of action, then this is a book you should definitely read. There was violence in the story so this book is not all butterflies and roses. It was well written, the plot was well thought out and as a reader I kept turning the pages to see what happened next.  To be honest, this book kept me up until 4:00 AM because I just couldn’t put it down. I really hope that I don’t have to wait too long for the next book in this series to come out because I don’t think I can!

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.

One response to “Review: Exchange of Fire by P. A. DePaul

  1. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to read EXCHANGE OF FIRE and the fabulous review.

I’m humbled and honored that you loved this story as much as I do. The characters of Delta Squad definitely have their own personalities and I can’t wait for each of them to have their own book.

FYI, April 2015 is when the second book is due to be released. 🙂
