Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Amelia Greystone, a spinster, who takes care of her mother and runs her brothers estate. Amelia is very caring and compassionate always putting others needs before her own. Alemlia also seems to thrive on taking care of others.
Simon Grenville escaped his unhappy marriage by spying on France during the war. Finally making it back home to his children after the death of his wife.
Ten years before Amelia and Simon had a summer fling, both of them thinking it was something that could last, Until the death of Simon’s older brother. Simon left Cornwall, with out a word and married the girl his parents wanted him to.
Persuasion was pretty slow going to begin with, and was a bit confusing because it seemed to jump into a story already in progress. After several chapters the pace picked up a quite a bit and it started making a lot more sense. The Characters and their relationships were pretty good. I really enjoyed the closeness and the caring Amelia and her family had.  I felt that Simon had to be shoved into taking an interest in his children lives, because he was to afraid of what was going with himself to really notice what was going on with others. I also felt that relationship between Simon and Amelia was kind of touch and go like the couldn’t make up their minds on what they really wanted. The second half of Persuasion was much better, they both came to terms with their feeling, and the suspense about what was going to happen with Simon and war was more exciting.
I give Persuasion four cocktails.
