employee of the monthSome rules are made to be broken…

Rule number 1: No touching
Rule number 2: No kissing
Rule number 3: Never, ever, fall in love

Holly Wilder finds some of those rules pretty difficult to follow during her boss’s visits to present the Employee of the Month award. A relationship between them is prohibited, and even if it wasn’t, Holly has no intention of ever falling in love again. But that doesn’t stop her from craving Max’s touch.

Hotel owner Max Lazzari never expected to break his own rules, especially when they are so important to him. But sexy employee Holly is too hard to resist. Their no-strings, secret arrangement fits in perfectly with his no-commitment plan. A plan to ensure that no woman will ever again have the opportunity to hurt him.

Sizzling nights together mean Holly and Max start looking forward to the monthly visits more and more. Until they are both brought down to earth with a bump—a pregnancy one!

Will rule breaking lead to broken hearts?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Employee of the month

What happens when two people are so attracted to each other that they break all of the rules?  True love happens.

In Employee of the month hotel employee, Holly Wilder, and hotel owner, Max Lazzari, forget about the rules and engage in a once a month no strings steamy hot affair.  Holly loves her job and puts up with her awful boss but the icing on the cake is the one weekend a month that Max is in town.  The two lovers get a surprise when Holly becomes pregnant.  They know that their current situation can’t continue, but they aren’t where to go from there.  Holly and Max confront the issues of their past and work their way through multiple misunderstandings to find their happy ending.

I absolutely enjoyed the way the author did a great job of showing how the issues from their parents’ failures and their previous relationships played a role in their lives.  I think everyone can relate to not wanting to make the mistakes that their parents made or that they made in previous relationships.  The author takes that a step further and shows how basing current relationship decisions on past pain can cause an individual to miss out on love.  She did an excellent job of using two broken individuals to illustrate that love is about taking a chance…a leap of faith…and making a new reality.

The story moved along at a fast pace.  The characters were likable, and I was easily able to relate to each one.  The chemistry between Holly and Max leaped off the page.  Holly was the epitome of the modern day independent woman.  Max’s character was strong and yet heartbreakingly vulnerable.  I just wanted to give them both a hug and tell them it was going to be okay.  I was cheering for them from the beginning to the end.  I literally stayed up all night to be sure they were going to be okay.  That’s how hooked I was by these characters and this story.  I can’t wait to read her next book.
