After her fiancé penned a “Dear Katie” letter, Kate Stillman vowed she’d never give a man more than one night. Free from emotional entanglements, her photography career has skyrocketed, she’s had some hot one-night stands and her heart has stayed off-limits. It’s the perfect plan until a Miami getaway brings her face-to-face with Peter Barrett.

Hunky rocker Peter has been pursuing Katie from afar ever since she photographed his band. In the flesh, it’s clear it was more than flirtation. Katie gives in to their sizzling chemistry, thinking Peter will appreciate her one-night rule. Instead, he balks and extends an invitation for a second night of pure abandon, an offer too tempting to refuse. When they part, Katie realizes her rule protected her heart only too well. Time away from Peter leaves her wanting him more. Every steamy, late-night phone call makes her wonder if she can love again. But when Peter returns and her trust is tested, Katie must overcome her past to see that love her way was never the way at all.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

I love story lines with rock bands in them.  The authors always seem to be able to paint a picture that what we think we know about that famous rock star is not necessarily true.  In this case, is hot guitarist Peter proving to photographer Katie that he is a one woman man and she’s his woman.

Katie’s been burned in the past and she’s done everything that she can to protect her heart from being broken all over again.  One night stands with hot guys is one of those things.  But Peter breaks the rules with her and demands more than just the one night.  As Katie gives in, she finds she adores the man behind the guitar.  The man who sends her roses, wears glasses and likes her cat.  But Katie’s insecurities rears it’s head and causes her to question everything.  Anyone who’s had their heart broken can sympathize with Katie and understand why she’s trying to protect herself.  But you also had to wonder if she was really going to let a man like Peter get away just because she’s afraid.  In the end, she did need to confront that fear and realize that not every man would be like her ex-fiance and decide to take the leap.

Peter has pursued Katie since his band hired her to photograph them.  But while Katie might flirt with him, she always seems to push him away.  But when they meet, by chance, in Miami, he thinks he’s finally going to be able to start something with the elusive Katie.  But Katie’s past hurts get in their way, but Peter is not willing to let Katie go.  He does whatever it takes (standing outside her apartment in the middle of the night) to convince her that what they have is special.  Peter is a man you will absolutely fall in love with.  He’s a sweet, romantic man that wants a woman to love him for who he is.  He finds that with Katie, but he also knows that he has to go that little bit extra to prove he’s not like her ex.  When most men would cut and run, he stayed until their relationship was fixed.

I enjoyed this one and wished there could have been a little bit more to Katie and Peter, as I wasn’t quite ready to let them go.
