Kane is determined to right the wrong that happened to River in college—because of him. She’s been an obsession he can’t escape…and Kane wants River more than he’s ever wanted anything. So he offers her a deal she can’t refuse: marry him and her business will be success. But River’s knight in shining armor isn’t looking for a platonic business deal. He wants their marriage to be real…in every way.

This is my first book by Ms. Carew and I picked it up because it sounded cute.

The Billionaire who wants a woman who is resistant, he uses the carrot of helping her business to get the marriage he wants – what could go wrong, right?

I will admit that I didn’t go into Nailed expecting a griping, emotional read. I was looking for a fun, cute, entertaining read. The book that I got was a bit jumbled, the story couldn’t seem to make up its mind between sexy/romantic and emotional/angst.

I bounced between liking River and Kane and being annoyed with them. Conflicts new and old were just swept away and never really dealt with as their relationship progressed. When the two finally do seem to make real emotional progress, a wrench gets thrown into the mix that leaves the ending of the book a little flat.

Overall, this was an okay read. It was quick and fun, but I felt like a lot of potential got left on the table in terms of conflicts and emotional avenues that could have been explored.

I am a full time mom who works part time. I squeeze reading in wherever I can between work, volunteer stuff, and kid activities. I read a little bit of everything, but really enjoy indie authors and Happy- Ever-Afters. I've been reviewing for Cocktails and Books since January 2015.
