Reviewer’s Thoughts

For every anthology that I read that tempts me to rush out and purchase more books by those authors, there are two that leave me with a “huh?” feeling. This unfortunately was one of those moments. So let’s focus on my favorites in this anthology. Roz Lee and Anne Kane were in my opinion the standouts in the entire bundle.

I am a huge fan of finding love for a second time and getting your happily ever after. I mean who wants to be alone forever? That being said, Lee’s story really hit all the right notes with me. Firefighter, hero and loving father; Steve is essentially every woman’s dream man. Let’s face it, who can resist a man in uniform? From start to finish, it is the type of story I would want to read again several times.

In Moonlight Madness, Anne Kane gives us a second chance at love. Yet again… a concept I absolutely love. Britney is a woman who has finally had enough of her abusive relationship. Is it the way he treats her? The way he pushes her around? The verbal and physical abuse she endures? No, it’s not any of those. It’s actually the way he treats the dog that is the final straw. This to me was an “Are you f-ing kidding me?” moment. But hey, at least she reached the point where she finally decides to get out. And she’s taking the dog with her. I like her already. Likeable characters and adorable dogs bent on matchmaking makes this a memorable story for me.

To be completely honest, the rest of the stories weren’t bad. They just weren’t very memorable. In one case, the storyline was not very original. I read a similar story years ago except it was the male author that suffered from a fear of flying, not the accompanying publicist. So although it was a good story, it wasn’t a new concept for me and that took something away from my enjoyment of it. Overall though, the anthology idea of basing each story around a fortuneteller was a unique concept that I absolutely loved. The stories ranged from just merely nice to fantastic, but it’s worth every penny and I would and have recommended it.
