Reviewer’s Thoughts

Lane Garret and Jackson Thornbird. Those names alone told me that this was going to be a good read.

Lane is a decoy for a catch your spouse cheating company. Jax (Jackson) comes from a wealthy family who just wants to be a good cop. By a chance meeting one night he is asked to be her back up for a mark. Well things go south fast when Lane’s mark is shot dead. Jax arrives just in time and sensing there is more to this than it seems, takes Lane and flees the scene. Now they are both persons of interest in this murder.

This is where the action begins. Jax is a good cop in the city of Chicago where a clean cop is hard to find. He knows he is being set up and tries to find out why and what Lane has to do with it. Lane is newly single and wants to be independent and make a name for herself. I loved this couple because it seemed like they were just going to go on the run and fall in love like in all the books. But this was different. I was surprised to find out that they had actually met prior to this and it was a funny meeting. A very unique one if you will. While they are on the run, they get help from Jax’s family members who really have a great sense of humor.

This book had action and suspense. It also had some good steamy scenes but what I loved about it was that it did not take away from the story. It just had enough to leave your imagination to it. There are a lot of books out there that the sex scenes are so good but they take away from the story. This was the opposite.

I would really recommend this book if you are interested in reading a good story with lots of intrigue and suspense and with just enough romance to keep you happy.
