Review: Real Men Don’t Break Hearts – Colleen Kwan

Posted February 3, 2013 by Shannon in Shannon / 0 Comments

Ally Griffin is horrified to learn her new landlord is none other than the infuriating playboy Nate Hardy—the man whose wiles she just knows got her jilted at the altar six years ago. Add to it that her ex-fiancé Seth is showing up in her hometown of Burronga, Australia, to marry his beautiful new bride…for real this time. But the kicker? Everybody’s treating Ally as though she’s still heartbroken. She’s just fine, thank you very much, but could The Jilter have the decency not to hire her sister as his florist?

Nate Hardy is tired of his high-flying city career and bachelor lifestyle and is looking for something more real. The last thing he needs is to find himself undeniably attracted to Ally, the woman with whom he never saw eye-to-eye. But is he even capable of what Ally wants and deserves?

As Ally tries to pull her life out of the rut it’s fallen in, she doesn’t count on Nate stirring up her emotions. A short-term fling with the resident bad boy is practically irresistible, but only if she can guard her heart…

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Ally Griffin was the girl that was jilted at the alter and left to live with an entire town who feel sorry for her and think she is still broken hearted over her ex-fiance, Seth.  Everything changes when ex-resident bad boy, Nate Hardy, comes back to town hoping to get a fresh start after leaving his high power finance job.  What Ally and Nate learn, after their first meeting, is there is a fine line between love and hate and that they might be the side they least expected with each other.

This was one of those sweet romance stories that leaves you with a smile on your face when you get to the last page.  Ally and Nate may not burn up the pages with their chemistry (since most of that happens “off the page”), the author does a great job of conveying their feelings for each other while still keeping the story sweet.  It wasn’t overly hot or emotionally challenging when reading it, but it was fun and entertaining and an absolutely perfect way to spend a few hours.
