Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.

Eden is said to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her face has graced countless magazines and her body has sold millions of dollars of clothing. But her fame and beauty has earned her more than she ever imagined. Evil is stalking her, determined to extinguish the ethereal beauty forever.

Swanson or “Swanny” as his teammates call him is always up for the next mission. He came back from Afghanistan wounded and scarred. Hardly the kind of man who even belongs in the same room with Eden. And yet there’s something about the quiet beauty that stirs his blood and makes him dream of the impossible. Because Beauty loving the beast only happens in fairy tales and KGI doesn’t deal in fairy tales. Ever.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Eden is a model on the top of the world and in the height of her career. She is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. Unlike many models, Eden has a beautiful personality to match. Despite working all over the world, she maintains close contact with her family. When someone takes a shot at her, she agrees to having KGI protect her while she is on the biggest job of her career. When she meets the men who are going to protect her, the most unlikely man in the group is the one man who makes her feel safe.

Daryl Swanson also known as “Swanny” to the public has had a rough life. He was in the military with Joe and Nathan. Swanny got trapped and almost died in Afghanistan. He returned scarred inside and out. Then Swanny found a home inside KGI and a family not of blood that cared about him. His life was as perfect as it could be. However, he is truly puzzled by Eden’s advances toward him because of his outside appearance.

The chemistry between Swanny and Eden is blistering. It was interesting to see Swanny deal with his personal issues about his appearance to be able to have a relationship with Eden. I also enjoyed seeing Eden’s attitude about Swanny’s scar. It was realistic. I loved watching these two fall in love with each other. While it was unexpected, it was easy to see how perfect they were for each other.

When Day Breaks is the ninth book in the KGI series by Maya Banks. While reading the prior novels is not necessary, it does help the overall understanding of the characters. I found this book well written. Ms. Banks does a wonderful job of drawing the reader into the story. I had a hard time putting this book down to the point I read this book in one sitting. The main and secondary characters were fascinating and appealing. Overall, this was a wonderful book. I wait for each book in this series with baited breath. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I really do hope Joe is next!!
