Reviewer’s Thoughts

I love romantic suspense that’s why I picked up the book. D.C. Stone is a new-to-me author and I also enjoy many Evernight titles so I was very excited to begin reading.

The book started slow for me and was difficult to get into the story. What bugged me the most about the plot was I felt that the bad guy’s scenes were too detailed. What I mean is, I’d have liked a little more mystery, a little of the bad guy’s motives and proclivities held back a little to keep me hooked into the story. I felt there was too much revealed too soon and it didn’t immediately hook me into the storyline.

I also felt there was a lack of chemistry between the Charlie and Trent. Charlie was a tough character for me to like and that made it difficult to relate to her. The premise of the plot was solid, but the story just didn’t work for me. But just because I didn’t enjoy the story doesn’t mean that someone else would feel the same. I’d like to revisit the book at a later date and try reading it again with a fresher perspective.

I have a lot of respect for the author and want to thank her for her military service to our country. Thank you.
