Reviewer’s Thoughts

“Jackson’s Sub” is the second book in the “Doms of Club Mystique” series.  I have to say that I liked this one SO MUCH BETTER than the first.  Thank you Mardi Maxwell!

The Ramsey brothers own and operate a very exlusive BDSM club on their property called…well…Club Mystique.  They’re all passionate about the lifestyle AND their women.  They’re UBER Alphas, and that takes some getting used to.  In the first story, “To Love and Obey”, oldest brother Cade is completely over the top, and even though I really enjoyed the book, I wanted to slap him upside the head more than once.  Here, in “Jackson’s Sub”, Jackson Ramsey is VERY dominant.  Even so, he’s so much easier to read about.  Sure, he’s still VERY Alpha with Jenna, but I didn’t want to physically harm him.  I wanted to kiss him and lock myself away with him…for a year.

Jenna Parnell is in town to help her best friend Addison plan her wedding to Cade.  She’s had feelings for Jackson since she was a young girl, but she never thought that they’d ever be reciprocated.  Even so, there were two incidents in the past where they came together with explosive results.  Jackson did what he thought was best for Jenna, and they both suffered for it.  Now, all bets are off as he’s determined to win her heart AND her submission.

I liked the chemistry between Jackson and Jenna.  They both had a sense of humor along with the appropriate amount of angst.  I actually rooted for them to be together because it felt natural.  There aren’t too many things that I hate more than a couple that feels forced.  Speaking of chemistry.  WOW!  They were so HOT together.  The love scenes were amazing, and there were plenty.  Even so, I didn’t feel that they were gratuitous, and they fit right in with the story.

I read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.  Nearly everything worked for me.  My one knock on it was that I feel too much attention was spent on Cade and Addison.  Sure, the reason that Jenna is back is for their wedding, but I would have liked to have seen more time spent on her and Jackson since this is their story.  With that one exception, “Jackson’s Sub” is great.  I suppose that it could be read as a stand alone because the backstory is thoroughly explained, but I do recommend that you read “To Love and Obey” first.  You’ll have a much better understanding of the characters and the situations.

I’m definitely going to recommend this one!
