22284934The wedding is four months away, and Ethan has promised to train Sam to handle a planned honeymoon activity. He’s calculated the math to figure out her goals each week. When she reaches the weekly target she gets a massage and lots of fun orgasms. But if she doesn’t, it’s the stainless steel cane.

All this along with navigating her clients’ drama, planning a wedding, dealing with her mother while planning the wedding, and having lots and lots of wild and kinky sex.

And we haven’t even mentioned the bachelorette party.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Sam is a divorce lawyer who is the best at her job at work. She is fully in control and knows what she wants and how to get it. At home, Sam is a submissive as well as a masochist. Sam struggles in this story; the closer she get to marriage, the more difficult it seems for her to balance who she is and her sex life. She also does not talk to her Dom about her struggles. It was easy to see the source of her struggle is because she has met abused woman she tries to protect from husbands who abused them and help them gain their freedom. Sam seems to struggle with where the line is between abuse and consensual.

Ethan is a Dom as well as a sadist. He runs his own business and he can’t wait to marry Sam. He anally trains Sam to accept his length so they can have anal sex on their honeymoon. Ethan is a likeable man. He seems to struggle finding the balance between protecting Sam at work and a home. I love how upfront Ethan is about everything he wants from her.

The chemistry between Ethan and Sam is blistering. Sam’s inability to communicate with Ethan when she either has an issue or is struggling, is going to turn into a bigger issue if she does not do anything about it. There were several times when I wondered if she was not really a sub at all, just a masochist. I loved that both Sam and Ethan worked hard to clear contracts about what is and is not acceptable within their sex life. The sex scenes were very hot and steamy. They could get very intense at times.

Safeword Matte – In Training is the seventh book in the Safeword series by Candace Blevins and the sequel to Safeword Matte. This is one book that reading the prior book is a must to get a better feel for the characters. The extreme nature of the characters’ kink feels a bit weird if you don’t read the prior book. This book has a more clinical feel (due to the overall topic of the book) than is normally present in Ms. Blevins books. Overall, this was and interesting book. I cant wait to read the next book in this series and see where Sam and Ethan continue their story.
