Reviewer’s Thoughts

FINAL LAP is another charming story by Erin McCarthy. I’ve read and enjoyed all the Fast Track books about hot, racecar drivers and I’m sad this is the last book in the series.

This story centers on Harley and Charity, they are identical twins and although they look alike, they each have their own individual personalities. Charity is the sexy twin, but she’s tired of men looking at her as a sex object and assuming she doesn’t have a brain. Harley is the serious twin and she feels sexless. She hasn’t a clue how to flirt and would love to be considered sexy.

Each of the twins has a crush on a different guy and they would like to get the guys to notice them. Harley is interested in Cooper, who is a successful, playboy, racecar driver in his thirties and has been in the business for years. Cooper is a nice, down to earth guy with a southern drawl, but Harley’s sure he’s out of her league.

Cooper asks Harley to help him with his twelve year old sister who’s living with him and is a handful. Harley agrees to take the nanny position he offers, which means she will be living in Cooper’s house while watching over his sister. I love that Cooper sees Harley as a beautiful woman and always treats her with respect, honesty and patience. Harley’s a people pleaser and she needs to learn to go after what she wants, but she doesn’t have the confidence to do that.

The main story is about Cooper and Harley, but there is a secondary story also playing out about Charity and Jeff Sterling. Jeff is a great guy, he’s divorced, in his forties and owns Sterling Motors. Charity has worked for him for two years and tries to get him to notice her, but she hasn’t been successful. She’s used to men falling at her feet and is miffed when Jeff doesn’t.

This is an entertaining story and it’s great to be able to catch up with the other characters featured in the previous books. Thanks for a fun series Erin McCarthy!
