He can teach her to protect herself, but protecting his heart is another matter.

A madman determined to win…

As the deadly game of cat-and-mouse with Brit heats up, so does the hunger between Con and Jess. Safety might be found in numbers, but in bed, all bets are off—and the wrong move could lead to heartbreak. Or death.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

I can’t explain all of the feelings that I have after reading this book.  It was emotionally gripping and an absolutely brilliant story, the writing was flawless and I found myself immersed in the entire plot from page one to the end.  The entire story had me on the edge, I cried, I laughed, at times I was horrified and then at the end a feeling of absolute peace and happiness for the hero and heroine.  I just wish that happy endings could be there for all women who experience abuse in any form and I wish they could all find their nights in shining armor to come to their rescue.

Jess is trying to put the pieces back together after being in an extremely abusive relationship.  She has been beaten and abused but not broken.  When she decides to get her life back and fight for her freedom from her abuser she meets Conlan, he has been in her fantasies for a while now and her in his and wow is Conlan ever a force to be reckoned with.  His protective instincts kick in big time with Jess, and he is exactly what she needs to get through this extremely rough time in her life.  I never saw the ending coming and what happened.  I will not give away any spoilers, you will just have to read the book to see what happened, but it not at all what I expected.  I cried for Jess and Conlan and what the two ultimately had to overcome.  It was soulfully written and I can only begin to imagine what either character had to go through emotionally to get to where they wind up in the end.  There was a definite HEA, but they sure had to work for it.

This book had me hooked from page one and all I can tell you is that if you don’t pick this book up you are missing out.  I can’t remember when I have read such a passionate and heartfelt book.  This story tugged my heartstrings and never let go.  I can’t wait to read more from this author.
