Reviewer’s Thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed this passionate story about a second chance at love.  Dr. Rebecca Dahlman, an ER doctor is taken by surprise when Dominic Price, the man who broke her heart, is brought into the emergency room.  Dominic, the bassist for the rock group Black Phoenix, walked away from Rebecca three years ago.  When they meet again, Dominic tries to convince Rebecca to let him back into her life but he shattered Rebecca’s heart, and she isn’t willing to let him in again.

I found it easy to like Dominic even though he has demons from his past and opening up his heart terrifies him.  He knows he made the wrong decision when he ran away from Rebecca and he wants to make amends, he’s just not sure how.  Dominic’s a sexy, successful rock star with women falling all over him, but the only one who interests him is Rebecca.   I found his vulnerability endearing and his British accent irresistible.

Although Rebecca is a smart and successful doctor, she isn’t happy.   Her father is still controlling her life and she isn’t sure how to break free from him.  She is tired of trying to please him and wants to live her life for herself, not her father.  Then there’s Dominic.  Even though Rebecca still has feelings for him, she doesn’t trust Dominic and is afraid to let him again.

This is the first book I have read by Sarah Grimm and it was a delightful surprise.  It’s a well written story and it pulled me in from the first page, with its realistic character development and emotional story.  I wanted Dominic to redeem himself with Rebecca and work everything out between them.  Dominic and Rebecca have always had a fabulous sex life together; it’s everything else in their relationship that doesn’t work.  They each have their own insecurities they are dealing with and are afraid to open up and share their feelings.  Dominic feels inferior because Rebecca is well educated and smarter than he is.  Rebecca isn’t sure what Dominic sees in her.  After all, he’s a famous rock star and could have any woman he wants.  This is the second book in the Black Phoenix series and each one is a stand-alone.

Sara I did read both of your books and I have to admit, that I couldn’t put it down. I just wanted to know what was happening to your characters, especially in book 2. I was anxious to find out how Rebecca and Dominic would evolved in your intrigue and what was happening to Noah and Isabeau. I’m not giving up the outcome of your books, I just want people to read them and find out by themselves how it goes.

Great read, love every minute of it. Keep up the good writing.
