Cocktails and Books reviewer, BookBud, is introducing me to a new author today, as she shares with us one of her Top Shelf Favorite Authors, Karin Slaughter.

How did you discover Karin Slaughter?

I was staying at a Ronald McDonald House in Galveston Texas while my daughter was in the hospital as a new born.

What is it about this author and their books that have your coming back for more?

Her complex characters and discriptive writing always has me coming back for more. Her writing has a way of making you believe you are there seeing all the crime scenes. I love her characters, they are real. Sara Linton and Jeffery Tolliver are not your fluffy romantic couple.

What’s your favorite book of Karin Slaughter?  Why?

KissCut Book two in the Grant County Series. This is the book that I picked up at the Ronald McDonald House Library where I would stay while visiting my daughter when she was in the hospital. The book took me away from the real problems in my life and took into a world where the problems and they were dark problems felt a lot worse than mine at the time.

I also fell in love with Sara Linton and Jeffery Tolliver. Their relationship was very complex that just had you rooting for them from the beginning.
