HER SOULMATE IS IN DANGER.
When Arkimedes is kidnapped by The Dark Ones, Nava is forced to make a bargain with the devil. Sneaking into prison, she releases her archenemy Devon Black. Nava prays the life debt she places on Devon is enough to ensure his help.
Nothing is more shocking than when Nava finds her beloved again. Arkimedes has returned to his birthplace and has no memory of Nava and their lives together—or the past eleven years of his life.
Under the cover of a fake engagement, Nava must hide her soulmate bond, navigate the Copper Kingdom’s deadly court, and field off demon attacks in the nearby forest. Her plan is to trigger her soulmate’s memories and convince him to flee. But this new version of Arkimedes is cold, ruthless, and determined to solve the mystery of why he was abandoned as a child.
Yet the soulmate bond won’t be denied. Nava and Ark are drawn to each other, and her delicate web of secrets is threatening to unravel…

Wow!  After the slow burn of The Curse of the Crow, Abbey Fox jumps right in with this second book in the series.  Ark is abducted, Nava has to get to him quick or the soulmate bond wrecks more havoc, and the demons are making Ari’s life a little crazy.  Nava has to think fast and trust the one person she shouldn’t to quickly get to Ark..Devon Black.

Nava has grown up quite a bit in this second installment.  Several months after the first book, she settled into mated life with Ark in the Northern village with her brother and their friends.  But when Ark is taken in the middle of the night, she soon realizes those in the village don’t have her back as much as she thought they might and she left to fight for Ark on her own and having to think quickly and also keep in mind what this means for Ari.  But the one thing you can see right away is the need to defend what she loves is even stronger with Nava now.  She’s not afraid of her magic and will use it to defend herself and those she loves.  She fights when she needs to and stands up to those that stand in her way.

Ark wasn’t the strong, silent hero from the first book.  We found out all kinds of things about Ark and not all of his actions make him as likable as he was in the first book.  But there is a reason and as it all unfolds, we understand just what Ark gave up ten years ago when the soulmate bond happened with Nava.

The ending to this book leaves me wanting.  Wanting 2023 to get her a bit faster so we can get the final book in the series.  Prophecies have a way of coming true and I think Nava met the “sickly” person referenced in it.  I can’t wait!
