My reputation at Fairview University preceded me. I was the projected number-one pick in the NHL draft and the fan favorite at the rink. People wanted to be me or be with me.
Except for Lyla James Marichal.
She didn't look at me like I was her next meal. She eyed me with disdain. Instead of vying for my attention, she ignored me and pushed me away.
She was completely unattainable, and I became obsessed with her.
When I finally got her, it felt like I was on top of the world. I was going to help the team win another championship, going into the draft, and had Lyla by my side.
And then, without warning, she left me.
Vanished.
It took me three bitter, angry, long years to find her, but I did, and now she owes me a lot more than just an explanation.
Three years ago, she ruined my life. Now, I was going to become her worst nightmare.

Man…what can I say about this book? I did not want to close this 📕 and was sneaking snippets of time during work so I could get back to Lachlan and Lyla’s story.

Readers figure out very early in the story that Lyla is dealing with some pretty heavy stuff. She is closed off and basically trusts 2 people, but when Lachlan sees her at a party he finds himself willing to break all his rules (and hers) to get her and keep her.

Part one of the book focuses on the last few months of their senior year of college. They build their relationship and are hopeful they’ll start their next chapter together. Part two is what their lives became three years later because of fear and what that very fine line between love and hate will make someone do.

This is definitely one to pick up. Lachlan and Lyla are perfect for each other. Their relationship isn’t perfect, but they figure out what works for them.

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.
