My most embarrassing wedding moment:

My husband and I eloped, but a year later, his family threw us a party in his hometown in Scotland to celebrate with friends and family – most of whom were total strangers to me. During the cocktail hour, servers brought around little trays of nibbles and as I was consuming quite a bit of champagne (because when you have to mingle with total strangers, you end up drinking more champagne than you intended!), the servers were very diligent about making sure that I had something to eat.  I was talking to my new great-uncle-in-law when a tray came around, and without even asking what it was, I picked one up and popped it into my mouth. It was a smoked mussel, and my distaste must have been very clear, because the next thing I know, a very distinguished 80-year-old man is holding a napkin up to my mouth and saying “Just spit it out, lass.”   I’m ashamed to say that I did.  I was – and still am – absolutely mortified about it.
