Gentleman’s Rule #1: If a lady is virtuous, he should deny her nothing.

Beautiful Diantha Lucas understands society’s rules: a young lady must find a man to marry. But Diantha has a bigger goal, and she’s not afraid of plunging into adventure to achieve it. When daring, dashing Wyn Yale rescues her, she’s certain he’s just the man she needs.

As an agent for the secret Falcon Club, Wyn knows his duty, but he’s not about to admit he’s a hero of any sort. He has a plan, too: steal a prized horse, murder an evil duke, avenge an innocent girl, and probably get hanged for it—in that order. Wyn can’t afford to be distracted by a pretty face, even one with delectable dimples and kissable lips. But how can a country miss and a hardened spy solve their problems when they can’t keep their hands off each other?

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Wyn Yale agent of the Falcon Club ,a super secret organization funded by the British government, who provide services for the crown, has had enough. When Wyn is sent to retrieve Lady Priscilla ,however, instead of Priscilla being a wayward young woman like he is used to tracking and returning, Lady Priscilla is a horse. He decides that he will return the horse to the Duke who had insisted he be the one who return her and then he will kill the Duke like he has planned for the last five years.

Diantha Lucas is in a spot of trouble, the ladies maid she was supposed to travel with has run off with a farm hand. She can’t send a message home because she is supposed to be at a friends for the next fortnight, not  traveling in a mail coach headed to the coast so she can go see her estranged mother in France. What she needs is a hero. Lucky for her she recognizes Wyn and just knows he will help her.

Through out the travels that Diantha and Wyn take across England and Wales his plan is to get her to her family and carry out his plans for the Duke, the man responsible for his one failure. The biggest problem with Wyn’s  plan is that he is falling for Diantha. Diantha believes that they are headed for France but have had to make a few detours because of dogs, narcoleptic companions, assassins and rain. She has been in love with Wyn since the first time they met at her brothers wedding and he saved her from being abused by a group of young men.  All the while back in London Lady Justice a reporter is trying to expose the Falcon Club and get it defunded.

I loved the adventure and intrigue this book provided to compliment the love story between Diantha and Wyn.  The plot evolves and the story unfolds throughout the entire book leaving you with surprises up to the end.  The characters written by Ms. Ashe are delightful as well as real,  they deal with many problems and situations that make them take a place in your heart.  The depth and complexity of the individual plot lines as well as the personality of the characters bring you along and involve you in the lives and happenings of the Falcon Club and its members in a way that makes you sad when you have to put the book down to sleep or go to work and that at the end you are waiting for the next Falcon Club novel to come out.
