A New Beginning

A youthful indiscretion has cost Lizzie Poole more than just her honor. After five years living in exile, she’s finally returning home, but she’s still living a secret life. Her best friend, Ria’s dying wish was for Lizzie to assume her identity, return to London, and make amends that Ria herself would never live to make. Bearing a striking resemblance to her friend, and harboring more secrets than ever before, Lizzie embarks on a journey that tempts her reckless heart once again . . .

A committed clergyman, Geoffrey Somerville’s world is upended when he suddenly inherits the title of Lord Somerville. Now he’s invited to every ball and sought after by the matchmaking mothers of London society. Yet the only woman to capture his heart is the one he cannot have: his brother’s young widow, Ria. Duty demands he deny his feelings, but his heart longs for the mysterious beauty. With both their futures at stake, will Lizzie be able to keep up her façade? Or will she find the strength to share her secret and put her faith in true love?

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Lizzie Poole meets Ria in Australia. Looking nearly identical the were fascinated with each, then quickly becoming best friends.
Geoffrey became a baron after is oldest brother died and had to have his brother Edward declared dead for he had been missing for ten years. Not really comfortable with title and missing his days as a simple reverend.
Lizzie goes to London under Ria’s name after Ria and her Husband Edward die, and her own brother is killed in a ship wreck. Ria made sure Lizzie knew everything about her life, so she could easily slip in and take her place. Ria wanted Lizzy to make amends with her family for her, and also find the proof that Ria had hidden that they were sisters.
Lizzie slips into Ria family quite easily quickly coming to love the part of her family she never knew.
Lizzie and Geoffrey come to a mutual attraction, but can’t act on it because a law saying you can not marry your Sister/brother in-law. I really enjoyed all the characters and their interactions. The plot went very smoothly i thought. The way everything flowed was great. After reading An Heiress at Heart i can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I give An Heiress at Heart five cocktails!
