Guest Review: Men of Smithfield: Mark & Tony – L.B. Gregg

Posted September 3, 2012 by Shannon in / 0 Comments

Coming home from work to find my boyfriend banging our hairy, married landlord—in our bed—was bad enough. Discovering Jamie had also cleaned out my bank accounts made it officially the worst day of my life. I think I can be forgiven for wanting revenge, even if a few little laws (and possibly Jamie’s nose) got bent in the process.
Fortunately, the law is on my side in the form of my oldest friend, Tony Gervase. I’ve tried to deny my attraction to the sexy trooper for years. After all, he made it clear long ago that he wasn’t interested in me that way. But if the hot encounter in his kitchen is any indication, he is now. At least the day is ending a whole lot better than it began…
But the morning after, the Jamie situation goes from bad to seriously messed up. The jerk’s in more trouble than I could have imagined. And as it turns out, I don’t know Tony as well as I thought I did either…

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

On the heels of having read a much more somber novel, I needed something a little lighter. I was not disappointed. Once I picked this up, I could not put it down! I absolutely loved Mark’s character. Mark reminded me of everyone’s adorable little brother. You know the one… He’s the kid that is always tagging along. You pretend to be annoyed because he’s just a kid, but in reality you love having him there because deep down he’s a nice kid. That’s Mark. Mark was cheated on, robbed, evicted and placed on forced time off from work, and yet he takes it with a grain of salt and still helps his lying, cheating ex when he’s in trouble. The sense of humor he exhibits through what most people would consider utter humiliation and heartbreak is what drew me in. I’m having to stop myself from spilling the beans on what exactly Mark does from the very first chapter that makes him, by far, the best male character I have read yet. Suffice it to say he gives scorned women a run for their money everywhere.

By no means is Mark the only male character in this book that deserves acknowledgement. Tony is one hot alpha male who apparently does not mind coming to the rescue more than once. The chemistry between Mark and Tony is explosive even though they both seem to be trying to avoid any real connection, each for their own reasons.

If you have not read any of the books in the Men of Smithfield series, you definitely want to give these hot guys a try. Mark and Tony are the perfect men to start a series with in my opinion. They just left me wanting more. Anybody know if there’s a direct flight to Smithfield, Connecticut? Because I definitely want more and you will too.
