Reviewer’s Thoughts:

First I want to say that I absolutely loved Adam. It’s kind of hard not to feel strongly for a character that loves so deeply that even after 20 long years, that love has not faded. Poor Adam has been through so much it’s a wonder he can function. If anyone deserves a happily ever after, it’s Adam. However, no amount of pain or anguish can excuse his behavior towards Bay!
Bay’s only crime is that she believed, as all shifters do, that they each have a perfect mate out there somewhere. This perfect mate is their perfect partner, their other half. This is not what she gets in Adam. He flip flops between being courteous and kind to outright insulting and cruel so often I was starting to get whiplash. There were times when I wondered if Adam was beyond any sort of redemption. The things he said and the way he treated Bay, to me were unforgivable. Bay, however, kept forgiving him. Even going as far as telling him several times that it would be his last chance. In his kinder moments, you see glimpses of the man Adam could be if he let go of his anger and grief. That is the man deserving of Bay. While I was not a fan of the way Adam treated Bay, I loved the storyline. Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews knows that I love a strong heroine. She’s got to be strong, fierce and willing and able to protect her own, even from themselves. Bay is all of that and more.

Theirs wasn’t a perfect romance, or a perfect love for that matter. It was, however, everything I have come to expect from Carrie Ann Ryan. Ryan gives us conflict, a whole lot of action and a love that, because of it’s imperfection, may even surpass the ages.
