Review: The Prince’ Gamble – Caridad Pineiro

Prince Alexander Ivanov is scrambling to save his reputation and his livelihood. One of the Russian Nights Casino’s hostesses has disappeared, and his business is suddenly under investigation by the FBI for associations with the mob and money laundering.
Special Agent Kathleen Martinez has no patience with rich, entitled aristocrats, especially one like Alexander Ivanov whom she believes is involved in the vicious human trafficking ring which she’d tried—and failed—to shut down two years earlier. Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Set in Atlantic City, NJ in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Piñeiro gives us a fast paced romantic suspense with engaging characters you can’t help but enjoy. This is not to say that this novel was without it’s rough points. The giant chip on our heroine’s shoulder does begin to grate on the nerves after a couple of chapters. And there are times when you get the feeling of having been dropped into the middle of a soap opera in progress line with this cast of characters. Yet this is by no means the second book in a series or even the first of what promises to be a long series. So there was no clear explanation for the feeling that there’s somehow you are missing an integral part of the background story.

However, Piñeiro knows how to write a suspense novel. A somewhat tepid romance is eclipsed by the strong focus on the story line’s suspense and action filled scenes. Far from detracting from the plot, the sudden sexual tension between the characters instead enhanced the drama unfolding in this Atlantic City casino. Still, the ending… handsome Prince falls in love with hardworking commoner, was the stuff of fairytales, at least for this common Jersey girl.

Power Russian

3 shots vodka

3 shots Coffee Liqueur

1 tbsp sugar

1 dash chcocolate syrup

4 cubes ice

1 1/5 cup milk

2 shots butterscotch schnapps

Mix everything, but the ice in the blender, for about 30 seconds. The you can either add the ice, and blend again, or simply our the drink over the ice.
