18509615It’s lust-at-first-sight when Brody Singer first sees Abby Dunn. Abby looks a lot like a woman he once knew, one who died years ago. But Abby’s definitely different—shyer but sexier.

Abby’s still trying to put her last disastrous relationship behind her and overcome the flaws her ex wouldn’t let her forget. But somehow Brody isn’t getting the hint. It doesn’t help that when writing her steamy novels, she keeps casting Brody as the hero.

Only Abby can write her own ending—will she choose her own happily-ever-after, or stay safe in her shell?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Brody Singer and Abigail Dunn are constantly thrown together when their friends begin dating and there’s a strong attraction between them, but they both have different reasons for trying to deny their feelings.  Abby writes erotic novels, but ironically feels inhibited with men.  Brody’s a plumber and a love them and leave them type of guy.  Brody’s sweet, has a great body and is really funny, but he’s also vulnerable.   Brody best friends are the three McCauley brothers and when they all get together they’re either beating each other up or trash talking.  They’re big, loud, unruly alpha males and if they happen to let their guard down and show their sensitive side, they’re embarrassed.  I really enjoyed the relationship between the guys and had many laugh out loud moments at all their antics.  No one can get away with anything with this group of friends without someone commenting on it. Abby’s two roommates are also part of this crazy group of friends.

This is the second book in The McCauley Brothers series and each book is a stand-alone.   Marie Harte writes a rollicking story with a cast of entertaining characters.  I enjoyed the story and it has many of the elements I love in a book, but although I found the characters funny, I found it difficult to connect with them.   It’s a light hearted book, but also has some tense moments as both Brody and Abby deal with some of their issues.   The guys are tight and care about each other and always have each other’s backs.  Now I know that plumbers can be sexy too!

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.
