three-stars

I entered into a bargain—choosing my mate over my freedom.
But I underestimated the crowned prince who took me. His touch like venom. His vengeance lethal.
He craves a power I no longer hold, and he’ll sacrifice every part of me until he gets it.
But I don’t belong to him. I belong to his brother.
His brother who will come for me, consequences be damned.
My fate is entangled between two princes—one who craves my power, the other who covets me—and I have more to lose than I ever imagined.
War rages in a game between queens, and I have become their pawn. But I will fight for my life, for my mate, and he will raze kingdoms to get me back.

I’d been waiting for A KINGDOM OF VENOM AND VOWS because I needed to know how Adara and Evren bested Gavril. The beginning of the book lived up to my expectation (and boy do you hate Gavril even more), the middle was slowed and the ending was just meh. I wanted more of a war of words between the brothers. Maybe for their father to grow a spine and show up. Maybe even Evren’s mom backing him up in the ultimate family showdown. Evil was defeated, there were some losses (although that wasn’t covered enough) and our hero/heroine got their HEA, but I felt like there was too much left unsaid or not explored to give me the ending that I wanted.

The one bright spot is Sorin and Thalia getting a book (which I quickly pre-ordered).

A solid fantasy series with a strong heroine who can hold her own beside her smexy hero.

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.
