Cassidy Clarke once climbed the world’s highest mountains, but after an unexpected illness ends her career she’s back in her hometown, broke and hoping for a little luck. But the townsfolk aren’t exactly putting out a welcome mat for the woman who once snubbed them in the media, despite her apologies now.
Mitch Anders knows someone has set up camp on the grounds of his plant nursery, and he’s surprised to find his sexy high school crush ducking questions about where she’s staying. Though he’s sworn to stop cleaning up other people’s messes, Mitch offers Cassidy a job and a place to stay—his place. Bedsharing optional, but definitely welcome.
Out of options and too attracted to Mitch to keep things platonic, Cassidy says yes to his offer. She wants to get back on her feet financially and start a new career. She never expects to suffer a different kind of fall, one that has her believing Mitch just might bring her something bigger and better than luck.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

This was a cute “”love”” story, but it lacked some character development in my opinion. We get that Cassidy and Mitch had gone to high school together in their small town, which Mitch never really left and to which Cassidy has just returned. She is a professional mountain climber, which I thought was kind of out of left field…She returns to Holloway scandalized and broke with the whole town against her. She disgraced the townspeople in an interview and they won’t forgive her. To compound her problems, her stepdad is acting strangely & won’t allow her to stay in her childhood home.

Mitch reaches out to her. Everyone in town loves him and looks out for him, therefore, they don’t want him having anything to do with Cassidy. The rest of the story is about their trials and tribulations of falling in love with the town against them.

This story just felt jumbled to me. The way Cassidy’s stepfather was acting and the mystery surrounding that, Mitch being afraid of heights while Cassidy is a mountain climber…

The ending was too abrupt for my taste. I wanted more resolution to the story lines. I guess it’s a good thing that it left me wanting more!
