Cocktails and Books received this book for free from Enticing Journey in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.

I think this might be one of my favorite books by Ms Kayla! Boss I Love to Hate is a slow burn office romance with a bit of frenemies to lovers thrown into the mix. There is just a smidge of heavy, but mostly this is a fun and entertaining read.

Sonia and Brad are both interesting characters that I wanted to spend time with. I found myself sympathetic to Sonia and wanting to shake her at the same time when it came to how she perceived herself and the end of her last relationship. It was almost too easy to put my (younger) self in her shoes. Brad was a character that had more layers than he initially appeared to and I honestly grew to like him – and root for him- as the story went on. I liked that he wasn’t perfect, but that he wanted to be better. The interactions between these two were funny and I enjoyed watching their blinders for each other come off. There was a sense of inevitable for their relationship, almost like they just needed the right situation to see the other persons value.

One of the things I appreciated about Boss I Love to Hate was the fact that the conflict wasn’t one big “thing” it was several smaller, realistic issues sprinkled through the story. Yes, there was one larger event that forced decisions, but it was truly organic to the story.

The secondary cast is smallish in terms of characters that make an impact, most specifically Brad’s bothers. There was a bit of a tease that Mason might have a story coming and from what I saw here, it would be fun to see what happens for him.

Dear Mr. Brisken,

How do I hate you?
Let me count the ways.

I hate your smug, sexy millionaire face.
I hate your cocky, skirt chasing, playboy ways.
I hate working as your secretary—but, I love the pay. It almost makes dealing with you worth it.

I hate how my friends call you a BILF, when really BILK (Boss I’d like to kill) is more appropriate.

I hate that I need you to be my date for my best friend’s wedding because my ex-boyfriend, the King of Heartbreakers, and his new busty blonde girlfriend will be in attendance.

But mostly, I hate how once the charade is over, I might not hate you at all…it was so much easier when you were the Boss I Love To Hate

“One of the best office/enemies to lover books I’ve read.
Brad and Sonia were so cute! I loved their banter, I loved the way they were with their families. I loved everything about this book. Addictive, funny and so amazing!” – Early Reviewer

“Perfectly written, unique, wonderfulness. I will be rereading this over and over again. One of my top ten books ever! Mia Kayla knocked this one out of the park, she left me with more feelings than I knew what to do with. The ultimate book hangover ( I mean hangover like I couldn’t get over it or stop thinking about it), nothing could compare. I had a really hard time reading anything else after this book because it was just that good!” – Early Reviewer

Mia Kayla is a New Adult/Contemporary Romance writer who lives in Illinois. She is the wife to the husband of the year and mommy to three unbelievable cute little girls who have multiplied her grey hairs.

In her free time she loves reading romance novels, jamming to boy bands, catching up on celebrity gossip and designing flowers for weddings.

Most of the time, she can be caught on the train with her nose in a book sporting a cheeky grin because the main characters finally get their happily-ever-after at the end.

She loves reading about happy endings but has more fun writing them.
