If ever there were the perfect mix of the parents in their offspring, it’s Randy and Lily’s. Randall the III (BJ) may look like his dad, but he has Lily’s cheery disposition and big heart, both of which quickly won over a reluctant Winter.

There were a lot of similarities between Randy/Lily’s story and Winter/BJ’s. I loved that Randy saw that, right away, when he met Winter. Where others might have turned a blind eye to Winter’s situation, Randy saw her and gave her the opportunity that always seemed to slip through her fingers. Winter was a tough cookie who took on the burdens of those she loves, sacrificing her wants. To have her skills recognized and those just-out-of-reach opportunities put in front of her gives her hope…the one thing she’s been afraid to have.

BJ is a carbon copy of his father in so many ways, but that big heart of his is all his mother. I loved how fast he fell for Winter and how he’d do anything for her. He quickly ensconced her into his friend/family group and gave her a support structure she desperately needed. His was exactly what she needed when she needed it. Even if she didn’t realize it.

This was a fun read with the right amount of angst. I love this crew and how tight-knit they are…just like their parents. If you love the Pucked and Lies, Hearts and Truth series this is a must-read. BJ and Winter do not disappoint.
