Review: Checking It Twice – Jodi Redford

The only item on Jana Colton’s Christmas list this year is Kevin Monahan. Preferably naked in her bed. The delicious, hunky chef has been resisting her forever, but she’s pulling out all the sexy stops this holiday. Especially since his acceptance of an out-of-state job threatens to nix her quest to rock his boxers off.
Jana has always been Kevin’s personal Kryptonite, but giving in to her isn’t an option. Relationships are a four-letter word in his book. He cares far too much for Jana to let his emotional baggage ultimately break her heart.
With the arrival of his best friend, Nick Pappas, the balance of temptation shifts. From their past history of sharing women, Nick knows every dirty trick it takes to lead Kevin astray, and he’s not afraid to use them. Particularly since Nick’s convinced that Jana is exactly what Kevin needs to be happy and whole.
Their game of seduction quickly snowballs into something that feels an awful lot like love–in triplicate. But with Kevin dead set on leaving Michigan, there’s a real possibility it could be a blue Christmas for them all.
Warning: This book contains an extremely tormented voyeur, a very naughty and not so saintly Nick, a liberal application of candy cane-flavored body paint, a buzzing butterfly, and enough raunchy fun on a sex swing to melt a snowman…or two.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Although not a series book, Checking it Twice is a follow up to Redford’s The Naughty List. If you are not familiar with The Naughty List, don’t worry about it, it is absolutely not necessary to be, I wasn’t either… still not, but that will be changing real quick, I can tell you that much.
I absolutely loved Jana’s character. She’s strong, independent and she is not the least bit afraid to go after what she wants. In this case what she wants is Kevin, her best friend and head chef at her brother’s restaurant. Kevin seems to want her too, but is holding himself back because of some self perceived flaws, which to be honest I couldn’t see and I don’t think anyone else would either. Enter Nick… sexy chef turned exotic edible “accessories” creator. It is lust at first sight. Nick’s addition not only stirs things up, but it turns up the heat considerably. These three obviously meant to be people have a hard and bumpy road to travel to get to their HEA and boy what a road it is.
If I had to pick one thing that I did not like or that bothered me about Checking it Twice, it would probably have to be how quick it was for Kevin to give up on his misconceptions about himself and his predilections. All it really takes is the one scene and he’s ready to go along with Nick and Jana. Granted that’s what we want. We want these there obviously meant for each other people to find a way to be together. It just seemed too easy considering how long Kevin had been hanging on to his emotional baggage.
I have to admit though, if there is one thing Redford can do it is write one hell of a ménage scene hot enough to steam up even this reviewer’s glasses.
